SAMPELA - (from Hoga)
This Bajo village is located only ten minutes by boat from Hoga. The Bajo were traditionally sea nomads who lived on large canoes. Nowadays they live in villages built on stilts and rocks over the reef flat. Visiting Sampela is a great opportunity to learn about Bajo culture and to take some memorable pictures.
MANGROVE FOREST - (from Hoga)
Visiting Wakatobi Marine National Park's most significant mangrove forest in a Bajo canoe is a special experience, and one can also go snorkel there.
BAU BAU - (over-night in Bau Bau)
If you have one or more extra days, it is worth staying at the Hill House (Villa Pak Kasim) in Bau Bau, owned by English-speaking hosts Pak & Ibu Kasim (Tel: +62-813-4154-9289). Located in the old Wolio fortress on top of a hill, it offers superb views of the town and surrounding countryside. The air is cooler and the dinners delicious. From the balcony you can hear and watch birds and other wildlife. Your hosts can tell you about the rich history of Buton and the area.
